What is the CPS Citizenship Program?
This program was developed to offer support to community-based groups and deserving individuals. CPS believes giving back to the community and helping less fortunate members of society sets a good example for its employees and creates a sense of accomplishment outside of job and family.
What are the target groups for the CPS Citizenship Program?
It generally targets community-based groups primarily serving homeless, disabled and the underprivileged. Additionally, the program offers two $2,000 annual scholarship awards to selected financially disadvantaged students displaying scholastic achievement coupled with extensive nonscholastic achievements.
How does the program work?
Groups or individuals can apply to the CPS Citizenship Program online (just click on Apply Now). Applications will be reviewed during the last 10-day period of each calendar quarter (March 21 to 31, June 20 to 30, etc.). Applicants will then be notified of the decisions by the last day of the quarter in which they applied. The responses will be (A) they've been selected for an award (B) their application has been carried forward for consideration in the next quarter or (C) their application has been declined.
How much money is available through the CPS Citizenship Program?
The program awards up to $5,000 per calendar quarter. The typical award is $2,000 for groups and $1,000 for individuals. The amount of awards are at the sole discretion of the granting committee.
